Annual shoe pyramid in Montréal

Last year's shoe pyramid in Montréal in support of survivors of explosive remnants of war.

Looking for something worthwhile to do this coming weekend? Head down to Montréal with an old pair of shoes and throw them on Handicap International's shoe pyramid to support landmine and cluster bomb survivors.
The fifth annual event takes place at Phillips Square from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., and promises to be informative and entertaining. Québec comedian, Dorothy Rhau, will host it.
This event takes place one week after the second meeting of state parties to the Convention of Cluster Munitions (CCM) who met in Beirut, Lebanon.
At that meeting, campaigners urged non-signatories to join the treaty and help the estimated 500,000 survivors of landmines, cluster bombs and other explosive remnants of war have a better life.
To date, 110 states have signed the CCM and 63 have ratified it.
