More than 50 enthusiastic volunteers spent three hours cleaning up a section of Brewery Creek in Gatineau, Québec today.
The cleanup was organized by Ottawa Riverkeeper and its Gatineau partners. Many local businesses as well as the City of Gatineau jumped on-board to provide a variety of goods and services, including: gloves, garbage bags, trash collection, coffee, hot dogs and a craft beer courtesy of Brasseurs du Temp.
Volunteers collected everything imaginable from the creek: car parts, bicycles, beer cans and bottles, retail store signs, parking meters and yes – even the kitchen sink!
The creek is home to ducks, beavers, herons, as well as other aquatic life. Click the photos for a larger view.
